Currently in operation as a guest inn and fishing lodge, the custom-built main building is framed with Western red cedar logs and a welcoming interior capped by vaulted Douglas fir ceilings. The five spacious guest suites ring a central common area that includes a trophy room and great room offering scenic views out over a bend in the river and the countryside beyond. Perhaps as testament to the welcoming quality of the lodge and its amenities, White River Inn has a perfect five-star rating on TripAdvisor from almost 100 of its previous guests.

The 722-mile-long White River, which cuts a southeasterly course through Arkansas, as well as a small section of southern Missouri, is considered one of the state’s top fishing rivers. The section of the river beneath Bull Shoals Dam, only a few miles upriver from White River Inn, is especially known for the size and quality of its brown trout. Indeed, according to one report, “data collected in 1993-94 showed this section of the White River held 188 brown trout per mile in excess of five pounds.” The Bull Shoals Tailwater is also home to more fishing outfitters and fishing resorts, the White River Inn included, than all the other Ozark tailwaters combined.

Beyond the undeniable lure of trophy trout fishing, Baxter County boasts a number of outdoor attractions including a section of the free-flowing Buffalo National River (one of the few undammed rivers in the Southeast), water sports on 22,000-acre Norfolk Lake and hiking and camping throughout the Buffalo National River backcountry.
