Congratulations to Ken Thomas with Crane, Oregon-based Ken Thomas Real Estate, LLC, for his sale of a 25,680-deeded-acre forestry tract in southern Oregon this week. Submitted through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program, this large, contiguous acreage is one of the biggest recorded land deals of the year. The property was co-listed with Pete Nevin of Far West R&C Sales/Mgt. Co.

Located in a quiet, scenic area just 60 miles south of Bend, Oregon, a popular recreational and outdoor hub, the forested property offers a mix of ponderosa pine, some portions of lodgepole pine and True Fir, pand other smaller portions of sugar pine. Most of the trees are estimated to be around 50 to 60 feet tall.
Elevations of the land vary from 4,800 to 6,100 feet above sea level, with two main drainages running through the property in the north and south portions. Three on-property creeks offer ample water sources, while the adjacent land is about 80 percent United States Forest Service land.
According to the Oregon Forest Resources Institute, about half the state’s land is forested, of which about 19 million are under State or Federal stewardship, and with about 10 million acres held by private landowners. Unsurprisingly, the state is among the country’s leading producers in wood products, including the top producer of soft lumber and plywood in the nation.
