Congratulations to Sam Middleton with Chas S. Middleton & Son for his sale this week of 953 acres in West Texas’ Crosby County. The H-G Farms comprise two non-contiguous tracts of land located in a highly desirable farming area where land is rarely available. These two tracts offer a mix of dry cropland, some pasture and a small playa lake area. The overall terrain varies from nearly level to gently sloping. The primary soil found on both farms is Pullman silty clay loam.

Crosby County is a rural area of mostly cotton and grain fields to the east of Lubbock, Texas. It also features distinctive caprock escarpments carved by the passage of the White River, which is a tributary of the Brazos River. Given its location atop the flat Llano Estacado tablelands, the area has also seen a recent boom in wind-energy production in a region that’s well known for its windy climate. The county seat is the Crosbyton, which sits on the western rim of Blanco Canyon.
