The Austin Gamblers made history Saturday night at Dickies Arena, defeating the Texas Rattlers 177.25-0 to win the 2025 Land.com Texas Cup and hand the Rattlers their first-ever home loss.
Sage Steele Kimzey led the charge with an 88.75-point ride on Greasy Bend, while Kaique Pacheco added 88.5 points in his return from injured reserve. The Gamblers finished 2-for-5 on the night while Texas went 0-for-5, unable to mount any offense on their home dirt.
“To come into their home turf and get a win, it means a lot,” Kimzey said. “Especially to break their unbeaten streak, and the Land.com Texas Cup—that’s the first step on the mountain we want to climb.”
The victory came despite the absence of three-time PBR World Champion José Vitor Leme, who remains on injured reserve. Head coach Michael Gaffney praised his team’s depth: “These guys don’t win by mistake—they win because they’re winners, and they love what they do.”
Rivalry Intensifies
Austin wins the Land.com Texas Cup 3-1, continuing their dominance after capturing both the Cup and league championship in 2024. Texas previously won the league title in 2023, setting up what has become one of the PBR’s fiercest rivalries.
The shutout during the Rattlers’ homecoming celebration adds extra sting to Fort Worth’s first home defeat in franchise history.
The PBR Camping World Team Series continues with three crucial October events. Teams head to Kansas City for Outlaw Days (October 3-5), followed by Ridge Rider Days in Glendale, Arizona (October 10-12). The season culminates with the Team World Championships in Las Vegas (October 24-26), where the Austin Gamblers will look to defend their 2024 title and the Rattlers will seek redemption on the sport’s biggest stage.
