Larry “Chipper” Jones, the Atlanta Braves’ legendary former third baseman, is selling his South Texas ranch following a permanent move back to Atlanta to join the MLB franchise’s front-office staff. Jones has owned the sprawling 9,109-acre Double Dime Ranch since 1999, having created the property by first buying 4,000 acres and adding an additional 5,100 acres in 2004. According to this interview in The Wall Street Journal, Jones’ parents have lived in a 6,400-square-foot property on the ranch for over a decade, while he visited the ranch mostly for hunting trips until he retired from baseball in 2012. Jones rejoined the Braves as special assistant to baseball operations in December 2015.

Double Dime Ranch is well known in hunting circles for its diverse array of wildlife including whitetail deer, quail, wild turkey and numerous wildfowl. The property benefits from excellent feed and water sources, not to mention a legacy of careful habitat management.
