Outdoors
Surrounded by an 8,400± acre ranch, the JL Bar is an oasis of privacy and wide, open spaces where the cowboy lifestyle is as natural as the landscape. Livestock graze the native rangelands as they have done historically in Texas. Access to fine horses ensures guests can saddle up and cowboy up for a day or the entirety of their stay.
Native whitetails along with a host of exotic species including kudu, blackbuck antelope, gemsbok, scimitar-horned oryx, and Axis deer thrive in the well-managed habitat and provide guests unparalleled hunting opportunities. In the appropriate season, wing shooting enthusiasts will enjoy hunting quail and pheasant alongside highly trained dogs and knowledgeable guides.
Guests, whether beginners or experts, can hone their marksmanship at the JL Bar’s Shooting Complex. The complex features a state-of-the-art eight-station, stadium-lighted trap and skeet course with both high and low field houses, a rifle and pistol range and a 1,500-yard long-range. The nearby General Store is set up so guests can acquire guns, ammo and licenses and fortify themselves with coffee and pastries from the on-site shop located nearby.
Other outdoor amenities include an equestrian center, a Jack Nicklaus putting/chipping green, an infinity pool, a hot tub and fire pits. The infrastructure creates an almost limitless array of activities including games, archery and cooking classes, as well as wine and spirits tastings.
Indoors
From its inception, the JL Bar was designed to be the best ranch resort in Texas. Nowhere is that more evident than the rustic elegance of the lodging, gathering spaces and spa.
Whether guests choose the sprawling Archer’s Nest estate, built on the site of the 1906 homestead, or one of the many guest cabins or suites, they will be cosseted in well-appointed luxury.
The JL Bar Main Lodge features a lounge, game room, fully stocked bar, 900+ bottle wine cellar with a tasting room, a walk-in humidor as well as an executive dining room and separate conference and meeting rooms.
The JL Bar Lonesome Creek Lodge, which can seat up to 275 people, is home to a full-service bar and restaurant, a meeting space and an indoor/outdoor patio, bar and grill that can accommodate 216 people.
The Spa at JL Bar is a five-star oasis of relaxation. The facility is designed to allow trained professionals to deliver an array of rejuvenating services in the serene setting that is integral to exceptional spa experiences.
Private FBO Airport
The private FBO airport, located on the ranch, allows guests to disembark from their plane and be at the main lodge enjoying drinks within five minutes. The fully lighted, asphalt runway measures 5,300’ x 90’ and boasts a 250’ x 300’ concrete ramp encompassing 75,000 square feet.
The spacious hangar can accommodate multiple jets and has both crew and passenger lounges as well as two conference rooms, equipped with video and phone conferencing, that can seat up to 12. In addition, there are several offices, pilots’ living quarters and ground transportation to the lodge or surrounding destinations.
