The Barn Lodge

Texas Style Barnodminium
With plenty of room to keep all your toys, the barndominium is a combination of living area on the upper level and shop, work, and storage space on the lower level. Perfect for a vacation home or secluded primary residence, this style is becoming more popular in Texas. This barndominium, built from our Denali Barn Apartment model, features a large second story deck and covered front porch offering sweeping views of the countryside. On the upper level, two cozy bedrooms and an open-concept kitchen and living area feature exposed beams and posts, vaulted ceilings, and plenty of natural light. The lower level is great for storing ATVs, watercraft, hunting equipment, or a workshop—whatever activities your family enjoys!
Off-Grid Garage Apartment
Though not built in Texas, this off-grid garage apartment in Colorado is another great example of the versatility of barn-style garage apartments. Built in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, this barn home features sweeping mountain views, outdoor seating and entertainment areas, and modern finishes. This rustic modern live-work space was beautifully constructed to suit the owner’s needs, including a garage, workout area, and a pool table on the lower level. The upper-level living area is finished with natural wood flooring, exposed posts and beams, and vaulted ceilings that allow natural light to fill the space. The upper deck allows you to take in the views across your land.
The Mill Barn at Walker’s Mill Vineyard & Winery
This beautiful Ayrshire gambrel barn is located on 74 acres outside of an old sawmill community in Texas. Owners Art and Adriana Strahan dreamed of owning and running a vineyard in their retirement and knew they needed a functional and versatile barn to serve as a gathering space. After their daughter requested to use the (then unbuilt) barn for her wedding, they accelerated their plans. The final structure was customized exactly to their taste by builder Ron Baker with vaulted ceilings, wrap around deck, full kitchen, and bride’s and groom’s suites. Since then, the barn has hosted weddings and other events for friends, family, and community members and the Strahan’s have planted their first Muscadine vines!
