With most states in the eastern U.S. bathed like a wet blanket in record heat and humidity, we indulged in some escapist research to locate lakes and swimming holes on land for sale that look perfect for a cooling dip. Cities along the eastern seaboard, from Boston to Washington, D.C., are currently under heat advisories for the weekend, although forecasters predict a cold front pushing in from the west will bring some heavy—and much needed—rain to the northeast U.S. as we head into next week.
