The county sits approximately 100 miles to the west of San Antonio and occupies quintessential Texas ranching country. The landscape here is a mix of prairie grasslands and mesquite- and cedar-covered hills, which sit atop a limestone bedrock that gives rise to many caves and natural springs. Along with ranching, the county is known for its excellent hunting opportunities, with many game ranches providing recreational hunters the chance to hunt both native and exotic game.

As in February 2016, Arizona’s Maricopa County had the most listings, with 2,851 homes and plots of land for sale in the county that includes Phoenix’s booming metro area.
