Wreaths Across America: Honor the Sacrifice of Veterans this #GivingTuesday

Of all the focus given to catchy holiday taglines—Black Friday, Cyber Monday—it’s arguably Giving Tuesday that should get the lion’s share of our attention as we head into the Christmas season. A relative newcomer, the idea for this successor to a weekend of rampant consumerism first arose in 2012 and seeks to plant a philanthropic flag on the advent countdown.

This year, consider a donation to Wreaths Across America, which is conducting its annual fundraiser ahead of the nationwide Wreaths Across America Day on December 16. The charitable foundation’s mission is to honor the ultimate sacrifice of fallen U.S. veterans as well as teach future generations about the values of freedom and service.

Beyond your donation, you can also volunteer to help at a local wreath-laying event and provide other donations of your time and services (such as supplying trucking resources to transport wreaths to area cemeteries).

Of course, there are thousands of other worthy organizations that could benefit from your charitable donation this year. Head over to GivingTuesday.org to find one that suits your gift-giving goals—and make your donation count before the end of the #GivingTuesday countdown tonight!
