Wild Texas Film Tour
The 2017 Wild Texas Film Tour is an 11-city speaker tour featuring inspiring adventures and conservation stories. The goal of the tour is to showcase important local conservation issues, inspire viewers to engage in grassroots efforts and increase recruitment for local conservation organizations. Each event will be approximately three hours long, will feature two speakers and will have a before or after party area for attendees to meet with supporting conservation organizations. Hosted by filmmaker and conservationist Ben Masters. Made possible by YETI, Texas Parks & Wildlife Foundation, Stewards of the Wild, The Borderlands Research Institute and King Land & Water. Women’s Sporting Club
Women’s Sporting Club is a group aimed at including Women in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in various hunting and sporting events. Women’s Sporting Club was formed in an effort to facilitate access, education and social events for women interested in hunting and shooting sports. By providing access to local events and a supportive social network, they are aimed at including women into outdoors events to help fulfill personal goals and expand their community. They’ve featured a several event so far this summer including a wild game dinner, a shotgun clinic, a fishing day trip and a hog hunt. Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival
Situated in the middle of the Rio Grande Valley, Harlingen is the ideal location to venture from for excellent birding. Within 90 minutes are dry, desert habitats to the west, and the coastal habitats are only 60 minutes to the east, with a riparian ribbon along the entire southern boundary. For 23 years running, the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival has provided thousands of birders with life birds, those they call the “RGV Specialties.” Professional tour guides lead every trip, whether bus or van, with a low participant-to-guide ratio to provide excellent spotting and identification.
