With an annual carrying capacity of 155 animal units (with 55 animal units classified as non-use), the productive ranch offers gently rolling terrain and good grass cover. The primary grasses feature several varieties of grama grass, tobosa, blue stem, three awns and giant sacaton. The ranch’s total acreage includes 2,600 deeded acres; the balance of the remaining acreage is Federal BLM lease acres, a common aspect to many of the ranches in this region.

Chaves County is set in a largely underpopulated, agricultural area of New Mexico. At 6,076 square miles, the county is the state’s ninth-largest county and comprises some 5 percent of the Enchantment State’s total land area. Chaves is centered around the county seat of Roswell, famously known for a 1947 UFO sighting and the reported military cover-up of the alien flying-saucer’s crash landing during a storm.
