Congratulations to Bill Bahny with Helena, Montana-based Bill Bahny & Associates for his sale this week of 4,480-deeded-acre Long Coulee Ranch. Located among the productive grasslands of eastern Montana along the North Dakota line, the prior owner had been using the ranch for spring, summer
and fall pasture along with running 250-plus cow-calf pairs from May through December.

Along with an income-generating portion of CRP acreage, the well-watered property features 270 acres of tame grass and 80 acres of hay ground. There is also a small set of improvements including a two-bedroom home, shop, barn and grain bins.

In many ways, this part of Montana retains the feel of its frontier days, dating back to when Lewis and Clark made their famous trek west along the Missouri River and beyond to when the original Native American tribes settled this area. The landscape here offers a unique blend of badlands and rolling hills, ideal habitat for mule deer, whitetail deer, antelope, upland game birds—and the hunters who pursue them. The county seat of Wibaux offers a blend of country-town amenities, museum showcasing area history, local outfitters for hunting and fishing and even a local craft brewery (Beaver Creek Brewery).
