Congratulations to Matt Mann of Sugar Land-based La Gloria Land Company for his sale this week of a 1,558-acre trophy hunting ranch in Lavaca County, Texas. The sale occurred on March 27, 2017, and was recorded through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program.

Equidistant between San Antonio and Houston, the ranch offers a mix of live oak and hardwood cover along with scrubby brushland that is typical of this area of the Texas coastal plains. It primarily has sandy soils throughout, with darker soils in the lower areas. Ragsdale Creek traverses the middle of the ranch for 1.7 miles, along with several small creek systems that drain into Ragsdale Creek.
The well-maintained landscape is home to a variety of wildlife including whitetail deer, turkey, hogs, dove, ducks, and geese. The area is well-known for its duck and geese hunting in the winter months.

For the week ending March 26, 2017, there were 307 properties listed as sold in the Lands of America Comparable Sales program, representing a total of $88.5 million in sales value and 25,000 acres. This 1,057-acre ranch in San Saba County, Texas, was the largest sale of during the period for $3 million after four years on the market.
