The Nelson Farm is a complete farm operation in an area where grain and feed production is always in demand. Of its total contiguous acreage, 3,224 are tillable with the balance in well sodded native pasture and grassed waterways. The farm has been owned and operated by the Nelson family over the past 80 years.

Anchored around the town of Belle Fourche at its southwestern edge, Butte County is an area of flat prairieland and farmland that sits to the north of outdoorsy Spearfish and South Dakota’s Black Hills region. The Belle Fourche Reservoir is a large recreational area popular for fishing, boating and camping. Fish species in the reservoir include walleye, catfish, and white bass. An interpretive area on the south side of the Belle Fourche Dam offers information about the reservoir’s history; there is a former Civilian Conservation Corps camp located near the dam that later served as a prisoner of war camp during World War II.
