Congratulations to Swan Land Company their sale of 6,347-acre Spear Lazy U Ranch, a scenic cattle and hunting ranch that crosses Meagher and Parker counties in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. The December 20 sale was both the week’s largest and most expensive land sale based on data submitted through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program.

Spear Lazy U Ranch is set in the foothills of the Crazy Mountains, with their snowcapped peaks to the east, the Bridger Mountain Range to the west, and the Absaroka-Beartooth Range to the south. Within the confines of the deeded acreage is the 7,770-foot Goat Mountain, over four miles of the trout-rich Shields River, and thousands of acres of timber, meadows and riparian threads.

The ranch is a productive cattle operation that teems with wildlife including large numbers of elk, which travel between the adjoining USFS land and the lush irrigated meadows of the ranch along the Shields River. Some 3,125 acres of the ranch have been placed under conservation easements with the Gallatin Valley Land Trust.
