Congratulations to Winner, South Dakota-based Shippy Realty for their sale of 1,280 acres of rangeland in Tripp County. The $1.2-million sale on January 4 was the week’s largest land sale based on data submitted through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program.

Located amidst the prairies and rolling hills of south-central South Dakota, this area is known for its productive agricultural land as well as hunting habitat. Tripp County is the state’s largest cattle producer. The Winner area is popular for top-notch pheasant hunting, as well as species including deer, turkey, prairie dogs, grouse and coyotes. Winner, the county seat, is also located along the Oyate Trail, a 395-mile stretch of scenic highway that runs between Sioux City to Hot Springs and showcases the region’s Lakota Sioux Indian as well as European settler heritage.
