Dwyer Ranch is a large agricultural acreage that sits in the heart of some of Wyoming’s most productive rangeland. The property is split into two parcels, with a main parcel occupying 5,443+/- deeded acres and some 680+/- BLM lease acres across three fenced pastures. The ranch is 15 miles north of Wheatland, the county seat of Platte County and hub for many of the area’s main agricultural as well as recreational activities.
A small farming community with a true Western feel, Wheatland was established in the late 19th century following the establishment of the largest privately-owned water company in the United States. This groundbreaking irrigation project brought in many new settlers, including a number of Scottish immigrant cattle ranchers, who stayed and developed the area into the agricultural heartland that it is today. The Wheatland Irrigation District is still the largest privately-owned irrigation system in the country, and continues to provide irrigation to farms and ranches throughout Platte County.
