Congratulations to Randell Major of Major Ranch Realty for his sale of a 27,905-acre cattle ranch in Torrance County, New Mexico. This sale occurred on September 5, 2017, and was submitted through the Lands of America Comparable Sales program.

Located in the center of New Mexico, Torrance County bills itself as one of the most productive agricultural counties in the state, with notable crops including pinto beans, corn, alfalfa and pumpkins. Torrance County Ranch is within easy driving distance of Albuquerque (90 miles).
Offering an annual carrying capacity of 245 cow/calf units, the ranch is equipped with good water-carrying capacity via six wells, plus rangeland for grazing including black grama, blue grama and tabosa grass. A modest 1,120-square-foot prefab home serves as the ranch headquarters.
Although the largest land sale during the past seven days in its entirety, it should be noted that only 385 acres of the total property is deeded acreage, with the remaining 27,520 acres being land leased through the U.S. Forest Service. Indeed, some 30 percent of land in the Enchantment State is under federal stewardship, a number that increases to 40 percent as you factor in state-owned land.
