When COVID-19 showed up in earnest last March here in the U.S., who would have envisioned that our world would still be so encumbered by this dreadful virus? About the time that it seemed as though our society was beginning to move in a direction of getting back to our normal daily routines and practices, prevalence rates of COVID-19 spiked in many areas of the country, reminding us that it’s still too early to let our guard down regarding safety measures that address disease transmission. For those business proprietors who are running hunting, fishing and other nature-based operations with lodging, there are several steps you can take to help mitigate concerns associated with COVID-19.

15 minutes from Canton, 30 minutes from Tyler and 70 miles from Dallas, Texas, Caddo Ranch is comprised of 491.8 acres, fenced and cross fenced, with a primary 20+ acre stocked lake and three additional ponds (two of which are spring fed). The ranch has a longhorn cattle operation featuring grazing pastureland and three hayfields with mature Tifton grass. Brewing Up New Uses for Maple Syrup
My mission was, and is, to find new products to make maple syrup. The maple industry is growing experientially! In 2000, New York made 200,000 gallons of maple syrup. The USDA statistics estimated 820,000 gallons in 2019. The average American only uses a few ounces a year of maple syrup. Yes, to put on pancakes! But, the average American uses large amounts of beer, wine, and alcohol. It came together for me: maple is a sugar; sugar can be used in alcohol. If maple-style beers gain mass appeal, the sales implications for maple producers could be considerable.
